Normally an instrument that requires a calibration will
automatically switch to the calibration
view when this becomes necessary, but the Recalibrate menu
item allows an instrument calibration to be performed at other
times as well.
Instruments in a refresh display measurement mode typically need
to calibrate to the refresh rate for best measurement accuracy.
While an attempt to calibrate to the refresh rate will be done
automatically, this menu item allows it to be done more
predictably when the instrument is on a suitable 80% or white
When an instrument is in a pseudo transmittance measurement mode,
it needs to be calibrated for 100% transmittance against the
backlight being used. While this will be done automatically on
selecting such a measurement mode, this menu item allows it to be
repeated if the nature of the backlight has changed.
Some instruments have a fixed integration time measurement mode, and the choice of integration time may need calibrating. While an attempt to calibrate the integration time will be done automatically, this menu item allows it to be done more predictably when the instrument is on a suitable white display patch.
Some instruments are capable of measuring the refresh rate of a
refresh type display (see instrument
capabilities), and this menu item starts such a measurement.
The results will be displayed in the topmost suitable Readout,
until a normal measurement is done.
All the measurement values can be cleared using this option. This
starts with a "clean slate".
